Download & Install
- Visit the official website: First, visit the official website of the Fedora project and find the download page for Fedora Media Writer.
- Select the appropriate version to download: Depending on your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux), download the appropriate Fedora Media Writer installer.
- Installation: Follow the instructions on the download page to install. For most users, this is a simple and straightforward process, similar to installing any other app.
Create a bootable USB drive
- Insert an empty USB or SD card whose contents you wish to overwrite. Note that this process deletes all the data on the drive, please back up your important files in advance.
- Double-click the icon on the desktop or launch Fedora Media Writer from the list of apps.
- After the program starts, there is an automatic download and a manual selection of the ISO method. If you have specific needs, you can also manually select a different Fedora version or image.
- If you choose your own ISO image, select the USB flash drive or SD card you just inserted in the interface. Please check carefully to avoid misselecting other storage devices.
- Once you have confirmed that it is correct, click “Download and Write” to start the writing process. This step can take anywhere from a few minutes to tens of minutes, depending on your network speed and USB stick write speed.
- Fedora Media Writer will notify you once the write is complete. At this point, you’ve successfully created a bootable Fedora USB drive or SD card.
Precautions for use
- During the writing process, make sure not to interrupt the connection of the USB flash drive to avoid data corruption.
- Once you’re done, you can use the drive to install Fedora on a computer that supports booting from USB or try out the Live system without changing the configuration of your existing system.
- Fedora Media Writer also supports the creation of bootable ISO image files for easy installation with virtual machines without physical media.
